An app for TTRPG players and game masters

Case in progress

Figma file

2023 — now

TimeToQuest is an MVP stage startup that rised from a friendly pet project. This is a platform designed for tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) enthusiasts to provide a convenient and centralized hub for connecting TTRPG game masters with eager players, facilitating seamless organization and participation in gaming sessions.

Game masters can post announcements for upcoming gaming sessions, detailing the game's setting, rules, and available slots for players. Players, on their side, can browse through these announcements, sign up for games that interest them, and communicate with the game masters to coordinate participation.

There I leaded all the product design, starting from scratch: conducting researches to identify user needs and preferences, developed scenarios, features and flows, made all the visuals (including building the brand's style). I also perform as a project manager, collecting a feature backlog and roadmapping the development with the team, with our processes being built around Scrum workflow.

A virtual event platform — product development

NDA project

Demonstration possible on request

2022, an Evil Martians' client

Our client provided a customizable virtual and hybrid event experience platform for team and corporate events of up to thousands of attendees.

They required a solution to keep users engaged before the start of the event. They approached us with the idea of creating a gamified "lobby" where visitors could participate in simple activities, communicate with each other, and get to know their colleagues and partners.

Our goal was to develop a platform where users could navigate via a map, visit different locations, and interact using mics and cameras. This involved developing user patterns and edge cases for developers while considering a wide range of personas and their technical requirements. Additionally, we had to ensure that the onboarding process was not overwhelming while still explaining what users could do on the platform.

A virtual event platform — UX consultancy and feature developing

NDA project

2022, an Evil Martians' client

Our client was a virtual and hybrid event experience platform catering to team and corporate events for thousands of people. Initially, they approached us to review their main product and assist with feature development.

One of the features I worked on was the stream stage, which served as the main stage for music festivals. However, the platform offered a plethora of activities that users may want to track, and it was not ideal to clutter their notifications. To address this, I designed customizable widgets that logically separated the tracked information.

A career-boosting platform

NDA project

2021, an Evil Martians' client

I worked with a client who was developing a platform that uses big data career studies to suggest career steps based on the user’s career track and goals. As a UX consultant, I collaborated with the client’s designers to develop user personas, user journey maps, and initial wireframes.

A corporate desktop banking app — feature development

Demonstration possible on request

2021, Promsvyazbank

Promsvyazbank’s corporate clients are large organizations and holdings, for whom existing IT services were inadequate, both in desktop and mobile applications.

Primarily, my responsibility was to develop the mobile application, but I also managed some desktop feature development tasks.

A colleague had already started reworking the desktop service, and their research revealed that the primary users were individuals who interact with the company’s financial information, such as accountants and financiers. They typically work from their office during regular working hours and deal with tabular information and graphs. Thus, our main objective was to ensure clarity for these users.
Roles
UX Designer

Challenges
Overwhelming tables and graphs
Conservative users

A corporate mobile banking app

The project involved developing a mobile application with minimal existing infrastructure to work with.

Our target users were corporate top managers, who frequently engage in negotiations, have an irregular schedule, and prioritize time management and the speed of accessing information.

Development of an app nearly from scratch

High security rate

A virtual inventory project

I worked on several distinct Leroy Merlin internal products that were designed to assist store employees in their day-to-day tasks. These products had over 20,000 users.

Most of these products were Android applications or web services, while some also had desktop versions. User feedback was taken into account during the initial design phase, and any new features or improvements were subjected to user testing before release.

One of the products I worked on was aimed at facilitating inventory management. Store employees needed to manually count all items in the store on a specific date to update the database with accurate item quantities. With the app highlighted the huge losses that needed to be re-counted, we saved about 25% of labor time needed for the annual inventory check, and about $30,000 per year both from labor costs and losses prevented.

An outage management project

NDA project

2020, a Leroy Merlin inner product

I worked on a product aimed at assisting employees with empty shelves in stores. It provided specific recommendations for each case and enabled goods to be withdrawn from the warehouse to the sales floor.

As part of this project, we developed an outage report for the mobile platform, allowing department managers to track items that are more likely to go out of stock and allocate tasks arising from outages among employees.

I took over this project from a colleague and collected user requirements, developed user journey maps, and created mobile report layouts. Additionally, I designed new features to expand the existing functionality based on feedback gathered from user interviews.

A remote banking system

NDA project

2019, an APIBank client

APIBank was a startup that offered customizable banking solutions to clients. Clients could select the products and features they wanted to implement, which would then be tailored to their specific needs.

When a client approached us to adapt the partially developed remote banking system to their requirements, I took over the project at an early stage and led it until it was sold.

My contributions included designing the user interaction and layouts for three new modules for both operators and clients of the bank. I also conducted a UX review of the project, finalized the system architecture, simplified user interaction, and constructed missing scenarios.

Additionally, I reviewed the design and implemented changes to it, while ensuring that the layout was executed as planned. I also improved the style guide for the project.

Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer systems

NDA project

2019, an APIBank inner project

As previously mentioned, APIBank had two focuses: developing banking solutions and customizing them for specific clients.

One of APIBank’s products was the AML and KYC systems, which were designed to identify suspicious banking transactions, check counterparties, and assess transaction security. These products were intended to be sold in the future.

In this project, I conducted a UX review and subsequently reworked some of the user scenarios. I also improved the design system and reorganized the component library.

An online accounting system

NDA project

2019, an APIBank inner project

For this project, my role was to work on the user flows of an accounting system for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs. I defined the user journey maps and scenarios, and created wireframes for the system. These wireframes were then passed on to my colleague who was responsible for the detailed development of the layouts.

Gamified educational tasks for schoolchildren

2017–2019, Uchi.ru, contests and special projects department

View the case study

I worked at a product company for over 2 years, where we developed interactive educational materials for children in grades 1−11. My department’s focus was not on specific school courses, but rather on creating and running multi-disciplined contests for children. This presented us with strict deadlines and the challenge of creating tasks that were engaging, memorable, and easy to understand.

Contrary to popular belief that children are born with tablets in their hands, our users came from a diverse range of backgrounds, from children raised in megacities with access to technology to those in small villages with no stable access to computers. We had to consider that our users may not have the same level of familiarity with technology as others.

Primary school children are one of the most demanding user groups as they are likely to abandon a task if it is too complicated or boring. Therefore, it was essential for us to develop engaging tasks as we worked on our flagship product.

Our workflow began by receiving task ideas from a Methodist and turning them into exciting stories with a clear user flow. We would then prepare a request for illustrators, control the development, and test our tasks with schoolchildren. This testing phase was crucial as it allowed us to identify areas that needed improvement.

In total, we completed almost 80 tasks, each of which was solved by over 300,000 schoolchildren. We also developed 10 tasks for two international online competitions for schoolchildren from BRICS countries, with over 1 million participants.
